Multi Drug Resistance Gene Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Inflammatory Bowel Disease
نویسندگان
چکیده
The MDR1 gene product, P-glycoprotein (PGP), was initially observed as a transport protein which was overexpressed in tumors developing resistance to chemotherapeutic agents, resulting from PGP-mediated efflux of drug from tumor cells. The physiological role of PGP although not fully understood, involves hormone and metabolite secretion, bacterial product detoxification, and transport of several drugs to the extracellular space, thus inhibiting their toxic or therapeutic effects.

The Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the C-reactive Protein Gene: are they Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Risk?
Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies have revealed the C-reactive protein gene (CRP) is related to the degree of acute rise in plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. Moreover, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CRP gene could associate with increased risk of cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, obstructive pulmonary disease,...
متن کاملA systematic review and meta-analysis of the relationship between advanced glycation end products ceceptor (RAGE) gene polymorphisms and the risk of inflammatory bowel disease
Background: In the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), the advanced glycation end product receptor (RAGE) has been involved. IBD is classified into Chron’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). The promoter gene of the RAGE gene was discovered to have had unique polymorphisms that increased its transcriptional activity. This study, therefore, used a systematic review and meta-...
متن کاملAssociation of two Common Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs +45T/G and +276G/T) of ADIPOQ Gene with Coronary Artery Disease in Type 2 Diabetic Patients
Background: Adiponectin, an adipocyte-secreted hormone, is known to have anti-atherogenic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic properties. In the present study, the association between two common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (+45T/G and +276G/T) of ADIOPQ gene and coronary artery disease (CAD) was assessed in the subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods: Genotypes of two SNPs we...
متن کاملMDR1 gene polymorphisms are associated with ulcerative colitis in a cohort of Serbian patients with inflammatory bowel disease
BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic disease of unknown etiology in which genetic factors contribute to development of disease. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in multidrug resistance 1 (MDR1) gene encoding transporter P-glycoprotein have been associated with IBD, but their role in disease susceptibility remains unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investi...
متن کاملEvaluation of Relationship between Single-nucleotide Polymorphism in TNF-gene Promoter and Susceptibility to Atherosclerosis in Fatemeh Zahra Hospital
Background: Tumor necrosis factor alpha is a proinflammatory cytokine and as polyvalent initial response of inflammatory cells which facilitated through the creation of coronary atherosclerosis . It also seems that the polymorphism and susceptibility to atherosclerosis is related to TNF-α gene promoter. The purpose of this study was to investigate single nucleotide polymorphis...
